Casino Hopping, Roulette and Colorblindness
So, the Graceland experience wasn't so hot - oh well, no big deal. I don't really know why we went to begin with other than "it was there." We drove back to Tunica and spent the evening at the various casinos. Not too much to show for the Casinos - we took this picture of Tim and I in this sort of "main court" of Sam's Town - this is right outside of the main restaurant.
Here is also a picture of Marliss, Tim and myself.
One thing that was disappointing was that most of this time it was raining, and we let the rain dissuade us from riding. We spent a bunch of time in the truck hopping from one casino to another. That kind of sucked. A couple of the Casinos are nice - there is a Binion's and there is a Golden Nuggett, and I think a 'Hollywood?' I don't remember the name of the casino with the movies theme. There are also a couple of real dirt holes - the Hilton? I can't remember which now - but at least one of them was kind of "country shack" decor on the outside and "ratty dirt hole" on the inside.
Garrett and I took to playing Roulette, mostly because it was slower to lose our money there than at the slot machines. Garrett and I ended up running the tables pretty quickly so that if one of us was down the other was up. Garrett, as those who know him already know, is colorblind. Running a roulette table with a colorblind partner is a little funny. The conversation went something like:
"Put my chip on red"
"It is on red"
"I am not playing around here, put my damn chip on RED"
"Dumbass - This is your chip . . this is RED . . your chip is on red."
"Oh, thanks . . "
Tim seemed to enjoy watching the two of us go back and forth, though he did suggest I stop telling Garrett what to do. My reply was "It really doesn't matter if I tell him what to do or not, he won't do it, so it is just a way of making me feel better." Tim appeared to understand, and kind of got this far off - nostalgic look in his eyes.
